Floods

Jun. 4th, 2008 | 06:14 pm
mood: wet wet

So, I got off work today and tried to walk out the union. Unfortunately, I could not go past the doors because 7th and woodlawn was completely flooded. I saw a guy walk through it that was as tall as me and it was up to his knees. Dunn Meadow has become Dunn Lake. You cannot see the bridges that cross the Jordan river because they are under water. Dunn, Indiana, and Kirkwood from Kilroys to the library are all flooded. The parking lot behind the Von Lee is flooded. Randy from work drives an SUV and he had water in his car; he parked in that lot. I saw a car with its door open with water draining out and it would not start. I saw cars stuck, I saw a car float down Kirkwood. There are other streets downtown that are flooded. I finally got to my car an hour later. It was a 5 minute walk this morning. And people are stupid apparently and try to drive through water that is obviously too high, so they get stuck. It's not the type of cars you would think either, like the SUVs and stuff. They would have even gotten stuck in it. No, it's not those cars, it's the Honda Preludes, the Sunfires, and the Focus'. Just reinforces my belief that people are stupid. Unfortunately, we are supposed to get more rain and storms this evening. I also feel bad. I think Misty got scared from the lightning and thunder and everything. I came home and she still had a lot of food in her bowl and she hasn't left my side since I came home. So, I'm going to go play with her.

Graduation

Dec. 16th, 2007 | 01:00 pm

music: no phone-cake

So, yesterday was my graduation. The fun started Friday night when my parents changed their minds and decided to come up early. They said they had to drop off my graduation present. I had no clue what this would be. Well, they get here and I go outside to see my dad is driving a cargo van. Why a cargo van? Because they got me a 50" plasma HDtv and it wouldn't fit in any of their cars. It looks amazing, I now wish I had HD cable. The Xbox does look amazing though!

Saturday I had to wake up early and be at Assembly Hall between 8 and 8:30. I woke up to find that it had snowed the night before and the roads had not been cleared yet. It wasn't too bad though, I just switched my car to 4-wheel drive and was fine. I got to the stadium at 8 and proceeded to wait and be bored for an hour and a half til we started the procession. Luckily, my friend Kurt was graduating from HPER also, so I had somebody to talk to. The ceremony was pretty good, it was shorter than I thought it would be. President McRobbie did a good job in his first one. The commencement speaker was John Chambers who is the CEO of Cisco. He did a good speech as well.

After the ceremony, me, Breck, my mom and dad, my grandpa, my grandma, and Ben went to Scholar's Inn for their brunch. I had never been there before, but it was really good. I had the Rodan sandwich. It was pancetta, mixed greens, and goat-cheese mayo on toasted bread. It was delicious! We then went back to my apartment for cake. Afterwards, everybody left and I was bored for the rest of the day.

So, after work yesterday, I decided to go to my Aunt's house for some food and to hang out. Well, as soon as I get out there, her new neighbors ask if I want one of their dogs. They had too many and wanted to get rid of one. The one they wanted to get rid of was Misty, a 5 month old Australian Shepherd, Great Pyrenees mix. She is mostly white with a grey head and some black spots. Of course, I took her. I finally got my dog! She is sitting right behind me chewing on a bone right now. When I find my usb cable for my camera, I will put up some pictures.

So, I went home this weekend. It was a pretty good trip. I was able to see my little brother before he leaves for london for 4 months. I got a new grill and stocked up on groceries and stuff. However, on my way back to Bloomington, I hit a fucking deer. I killed that fucker which is what he deserves after what he did to my car. I'm going to have to get my front end replaced, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Luckily it wasn't too big of a buck and I saw it at the last second so was able to slam on my brakes and slow down some. And that's my fun story for the week; enjoy.

So, Kiki accepted his coaching job in Boone, North Carolina. This means that I now have the place to myself or I can try to find a roommate. Kiki says he will still pay his half of the rent if I need. But, I would like somebody to split utilities with. We'll see what happens. Anybody looking for a place to live, gimme a shout. Kiki has to be in North Carolina by August 13th I think.

I know, you can't believe I'm actually posting. And I don't really have anything to say. I don't even know what all has happened since my last post its been so long. I went to Boston, it was fun. Bookstore got taken over by Barnes N Noble. It's not too bad. Downgraded systems, but they aren't too bad to pick up. My little brother got back from Africa yesterday. I looked at some of his pics on facebook; it looks like he had a good time. I talked to him today too, which I hadnt done since before he left. I'm looking forward to seeing him this weekend. Tonight, I made philly cheesesteaks and Ben came over to share one with me. They were pretty good; but I definitely know of some things to do differently next time that will make them even tastier. I really should cook more often. Sure, it might take a little time, but I do enjoy doing it and its easy. Plus, the food is usually tasty. It does suck cooking for yourself only though. Especially bcuz I hate leftovers. I really should write down food ideas when I get them, bcuz I will get them, then totally forget what it was and not make it. Ok, since I'm starting to ramble I'm going to go. I have to watch an hour and a half sexual harassment video b4 work tomorrow and take a quiz afterwards. Might do that in the morning.

So, Kiki and I are headed back from seeing Shrek 3 tonight. We both had to pee really bad and Kiki asked me if I thought he should hurry. I said, "Do what you gotta do" and he did not hurry really. We then hit the stoplight at Pete Ellis and Kiki got pissed because it was red. It turned green and we turned onto Pete Ellis. Well, we drive by the pond by Cedargate and have to swerve around a piece of fence that was in the road. I say, "what did somebody drive into the pond again?" No, Kiki sees out of the corner of his eye a car on the other side of the road. We turn around and this guy had gotten out of a jeep that was totaled. We stop, I have Kiki call 911 and I talk to the guy to make sure he is OK and to keep him calm. Turns out, he was drunk and had gone out to buy some cigarettes. As he put it, "he wasn't able to make it." He hit hard, the front of the jeep was ruined and he had lost his bumper. There were fluids pouring out of the front of his car. We realized this had happened probably 10 seconds before we got there because he wasn't out of his car when he first passed and was just getting out when we came back again. So, the police, fire, and ambulance showed up. We told them what we found and everything. The cop said we could go because we didn't see the actual accident and we wouldn't want to fill out an accident report. So, yeah; if Kiki had driven faster or that light had not been red, we both could have been in a serious accident tonight. It's kind of freaky to think about.

In lighter news, Shrek 3 is hilarious and all must see it!

dreams

Mar. 15th, 2007 | 07:54 pm
music: don't blow your top- kmfdm

So, the past two nights, I had some pretty weird but cool dreams. The first night, I was in a top 10 countdown. The countdown involved musicians. I wasn't actually in the countdown but Jimi Hendrix was. I was on stage with him when he was playing. Couple weird things about that... 1) He was barefoot. 2) He was playing in a church. 3) he just danced on stage for a while before playing. He then played all along the watchtower with a lot of guitar solos that were crazy. I don't know why I was onstage; I was just behind him watching him play.

Dream number two I had more of a role in. I was in the mafia. There was a big meeting of pretty much everybody. Everybody was wearing white suits and we were in like a big classroom with a window and two doors on two different walls. For some reason; I forget why, I had a black eye and a broken nose but they didn't hurt. Outside the window while we were in our meeting we heard a car door shut and the click of boots. There was also a metallic noise like the person was wearing spurs. We find out it is a young cop that is out to get us. He is also wearing a white suit with a black shirt. He has sunglasses and long black hair in a ponytail. He has a toothpick in his mouth and is wearing ruby red boots. We know who he is and everybody gathers around the doors, peering out, waiting for him to try to come in. He has a sidekick with him as well. When he stops in the hallway, he pulls out a gigantic machine gun and starts spraying bullets into it. Everybody is dying and I see a guy jump out the window(we are on the ground floor.) Strangely enough; the guy jumping out the window was Eddie Izzard; at least he looked like Eddie Izzard. Anyways, I follow Eddie out the window and see him in a little car that looks like a beat up white rabbit. He is doing circles in the car. I realize he was the snitch and pull out a desert eagle and shoot him in the head. I then take the car and get out of there and that's where the dream ends.

Strange, cool nights.

weird that I have 3 100%'s. Does that mean these guys had the same characteristics?

You scored as Hugh Hefner. You will look young well into old age, possibly because the skin from your nether region has been used so much as to pull the rest of your epidermis tight, either that or it's a whole shitload of plastic surgery. You will be the envy of most men throughout their teenage years well into their 40's and maybe even old age. However, you are the scourge of all romantics amd someday all lovelorn creatures become homicidal psychopaths so an escort of bodyguards as well as scantily clad members of the other gender is well in order.

So, this past weekend I went home. It wasn't too spectacular. They had not gotten any snow or anything at all yet. I think they have some now, but not much. I did have some good food; homemade wings, homemade burgers, and homemade hamloaf. I also got some new shoes and new glasses. So, it was alright. I wish I went to one of the other colleges in Indiana right now since they all had their classes cancelled today and tomorrow. Good thing was the bookstore closed an hour early though. Tomorrow I have class then I'm going to my aunt's for my cousin's birthday dinner. I have no clue what they're having though. Classes are going pretty well at the moment. I just had a bunch of tests; might have failed my sociology test, the whole time I couldn't think well because I had cupid's chokehold stuck in my head. Oh well. Anyways, that's about it for this update; since I don't update often, I'm going to say comment with any questions you have into the goings on in the world of Bruce and I will reply with answers. I can't think of what all to say right now. I'm off to George and Vas' house to kick their asses; maybe throw some ice balls.

mood: blah blah
music: Johnny Cash- Old Shep

So, today is the first day of class. I am already extremely bored. I have 3 classes today, with long breaks in between. Potentially I could be on campus from 9-9 because I work in the morning also. I have one 2 hour break and another 3 hour break in between my classes. I would go home between these, but I know I probably would not come back; well since it is the first day I would, but later in the semester I don't know. We'll see, I might go home after this next class at 2:30. I already had my sport law class which shouldn't be bad. Next I have my philosophical foundations of coaching; those classes are always really easy. After that, I have my 2 hour intro to sociology class. Tomorrow I only have 2 classes, and they are back to back; Jour-J110, I don't really remember what it is called, and then the class I am really looking forward to, Chocolate: Food of the Gods. I already looked at the syllabus and it looks pretty cool. I have to go to a local chocolatier and talk to him, so should be fun. Plus chocolate week is the first week of February and I think we are going to do something for that. It should be interesting.

In other news, I am already burned out from work. I work every day of January, 2 40 hour weeks and 2 36 hour weeks. Week one is done luckily. Of course, today is really busy; I went in this morning and it was nuts, especially because Noma, Jen, and I were the only non-temp staff there. Well, I guess Derek, but he was in the athlete room the whole time as he is the new athlete clerk.

My Christmas was OK. I didn't really do anything and I only saw one of my friends when I went home to Newburgh. And that wasn't for very long, we just went to see Casino Royale. So, for my one week off, all I did was sit in my house and read. I did finish one of my books I got for Christmas though. Ben got me into Red Vs Blue. My Caboose hoodie and beanie should be in sometime this week. And that is what I am going to do now, watch some. Laters

So, today was supposed to be the day that I did stuff. I was supposed to get a haircut and clean my room. Of course, none of this happened.

Last night I went to Mark's house and played video games with he and Melissa. I also got extremely drunk and ended up passing out on the couch. Go to today and I wake up at 1 extremely hungover and decide to play some video games. I started by playing Superman Returns which is okay except there is new stuff that you have to do every 5 minutes so you don't get to just fuck up the city and its people. After about 20 minutes of that I put in Viva Pinata. This game is surprisingly fun and addicting. You build a garden to attract all these kinds of pinata trying to make them stay in your garden. All the pinata have fun food/animal names like a badgesicle and doenut. The doenut is retarded and its hilarious. Anyways, I played that for 5 1/2 hours straight at George and Mark's. Then, I went to get food and stuff with George and Drew and back to play more video games. And I just got home about 10 minutes ago. That has been my day. I am an extremely lazy bum. Today was the day I could get all this stuff done too, I have to work tomorrow. Maybe next weekend; I can't think of anything going on except a party at Sara Roszcyk's house on Friday I think. We'll see. And that's all I have for now. I'm going to go finish the 2nd Wheel of Time book. And one last thing

You are The Magician

Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.

Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.

The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.
